Little Marlin Swim School

We’re fanatical about the importance of learning to swim.  Someday your kids will swim without you around… and you’ll want to know they’ve got a handle on it.  Leave it to us.  Our trained staff loves swimming and is excited to bring that energy to your little swimmer; whether they’re a very new beginner or a decent little dog paddler, we’ll help them get stronger in the water.

Group Lessons

Group lessons are offered in Monday-Thursday sessions, starting June 17.  Click on the groups below to see times, dates and a description.

1st – June 17-20th

4th July 15th-18th
5th – July 22nd – 25th
6th – July 29th-August 1st
These Sailfish will get their first introduction to swimming lessons. We’ll work on basic swim skills such as bubbles, putting their face in the water, assisted front and back floats and water entries.  The goal is to have fun, get comfortable in the water and under water.

Striped Marlins are getting comfortable.  They go under water, can blow bubbles and work on all their Sailfish skills.  They might not be able to float on their own yet, but are comfortable practicing the skills.  The goal is unassisted swimming (“dog paddle” and floats).

White Marlins are comfortable in the water and can float on their own.  We’ll start working on taking a breath on their own so they can swim!  We do more underwater swimming (toy retrieval) and develop skills for glides and efficient kicking.  The goal is for them to be able to take a breath on their own.

Little spearfish can take breaths while swimming, but still need some help. While practicing this, they’ll start to learn “big arms” and kicking on their back.
Monday-Thursday

Dates for 2024 coming soon!

Blue Marlins rock!  They’re swimming with big arms and are figuring how to breathe on their side.  They can kick on their back and will learn backstroke arms.
Monday-Thursday
3:20pm-3:50pm

Please include child’s name, age, and preferred group session & dates.

Private Lessons

Private lessons are offered throughout the week with either a Jr or Sr instructor.   To schedule these, please email Aquatics Director, Buffy Patterson (link on bottom of page).

Wondering whether to consider private lessons for your child?

  1. Cost may be a factor; groups are a cheaper option.
  2. Some kids thrive in a group setting, some don’t respond to the peer influence. You know your child best!
  3. Private lessons are more personal and can offer a steeper learning curve.
  4. Private lessons are more flexible; 10am Tuesday, 12pm Thursday? No problem!

Please include child’s name, age and preferred dates & times.

FAQs

What ages can take lessons?
We start lessons at age 3.  After that, the sky’s the limit! Private lessons are great for swimmers of all ages.

Do you do mommy and me lessons?
We do not offer these lessons, typically, because our pool isn’t quite warm enough for tiny swimmers.   If needed, parents may get in the water with the student and the instructor to help facilitate the transition.

If we arrive early can we get in the pool?
Members may swim before or after their lesson, but we do recommend making sure the child won’t be too tired for their lesson.  Non-member students may not use the pool outside of their lesson time.

Can’t we just book online?
We have been offering booking services for decades because we believe that it’s the best way to ensure a good fit between swimmer and instructor.  We also find that we can glean any information critical to the success of the lesson.

What is the cancellation policy?
Any lesson cancelled within 7 days of the lesson start will be charged a $25 cancellation fee.
